Trauma and anxiety therapy in Orange County & online throughout California, for people who are done pretending they're fine.

You've read the books. You've tried all the breathing. Maybe you've sat across from a therapist before and spent the whole hour making sure they were comfortable.

Three photos of a woman with short blonde hair, smiling and in diverse settings: peering through a window, holding a mug with a cat design, and sitting at a wooden table in front of a wood-paneled wall.
You are not broken.

And you're still waking up at 3am mind racing. You're coping, but it also feels like just “getting by”. Most of my clients are the capable ones in the room. The person who handles things, who everyone else leans on, who nobody thinks to worry about. You're not broken. And you can have more than "going through the motions."

Where to start

Trauma Therapy

For the things from the past that still affect you today. EMDR, Brainspotting, and talk therapy, at a pace you set.

Anxiety Therapy

For the overthinking, the perfectionism, the vigilance that never fully switches off, no matter what you’ve tried.

Hi, I'm Lauren Abbott.

Lauren Abbott, smiling and sitting on a gray couch in a living room.
Stack of four hardcover books with decorated spines.

I'm a therapist in Anaheim Hills, CA and I want to tell you something upfront: therapy in my office does not look like therapy on TV. There's a lot less sitting in silence and a lot more animated conversation over coffee. You're welcome to swear (I may even join you). Sometimes there's laughing, even about the hard stuff (actually, especially about the hard stuff).

At the same time,  I'm not the therapist who gets uncomfortable and changes the subject. I'm trained in EMDR and Brainspotting, so I’m able to sit with the hardest stuff and know what to do with it.

What working with me is like.

We go at your pace

If you want to start with the hardest parts, we can. If you'd rather circle it while we get to know each other first, that’s a valid choice too. We start wherever you are.

No judgment, no moralizing

You can say the thing you've never said out loud. I'm not going to tell you what you should have done or what you should do now. This is a space for collaboration, not correction.

I look at the whole picture

A lot of my clients arrive with a diagnosis that never fit or a few rounds of therapy that didn't take. Before we go anywhere, I want to understand what's actually happening and why.

We're in it together for a while

Most of my clients are with me six months or longer. Deep work takes as long as it takes but you'll always know what we're doing and why.
