Frequently Asked Questions
About Unstuck Therapy in Anaheim, CA
Money & Logistics
-
My fee is $175 for a 50 minute session.
-
I'm private pay only, which means I don't bill insurance directly.
Being private pay means the two of us decide what your treatment looks like and how long it lasts, without an insurance company weighing in on whether you still qualify for care.
-
I hold a limited number of sliding scale spots. If cost is the thing standing between you and getting started, bring it up on the consult call and we'll talk honestly about what's possible.
-
I see clients in person in Anaheim Hills, and online throughout California. For in-office sessions, parking is free and plentiful all around the building. I'll provide specific instructions once we book our first appointment. My office is close to two freeway entrances and it's easily accessible from many Orange County cities. No need for a parking structure or complicated city parking.
-
Sessions are by appointment only. Once we get started, you will have a set appointment time on a certain day each week. If you don’t have a set day/time each week, appointments are first come first serve.
The consult call is the quickest way to find out what I have available right now.
I return messages Monday through Friday, 10am to 6pm.
-
24 hours notice is required for any rescheduling and/or cancellation. If 24 hours notice is not given, the client is subject to the full agreed upon session fee.
I'm pretty strict on cancellations because for therapy to work you need to be here! Emergencies are different and will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
How I Work
-
Teens starting at 14 and adults of all ages. I specialize in anxiety and trauma, including religious trauma and family/relational trauma.
-
EMDR helps your brain process a memory that got stuck instead of filed away. The memory doesn't disappear. Its grip on your nervous system loosens. It's especially useful when you understand your history intellectually and your body hasn't gotten the message.
-
Brainspotting works below the level of talking, which makes it a good fit when what you're carrying has no words attached to it, or when saying it out loud feels like too much right now.
-
Not before you're ready, and not in more detail than is useful. Some approaches I use require very little talking about the event itself. We'll find the pace together, and you get to change your mind as we go.
Getting Started
-
We talk for about 15 minutes. You tell me what's been going on, I'll tell you how I work, and you can ask me anything you want. There's no paperwork or commitment. It's a conversation to see whether this feels right.
-
Mostly me getting to know you. What brought you in, what you've already tried, what you want to be different. And no pressure to go into the hardest parts on day one.
-
Fair question. Sometimes therapy doesn’t help because the fit was wrong, sometimes it just wasn't the right moment, or maybe the approach didn’t get at the stuff underneath (and that’s the part that usually makes change stick).
I’ll start by looking at the whole picture of you, including what's already been tried and why it didn't land.
-
Most of my clients are with me six months or longer, some much longer. Deep work takes the time it takes. What I can tell you is that you'll always know what we're working on and why.
